  • The press automatically identifies and sets up the reject limits for the tablet based on the product definition (operator independent).
  • Straightforward Linear Algorithm. E.g. a 3% tolerance in tablet weight allows for 3% change of the displacement measurement. No complex mathematical approach. Avoids complex hard- and software. There is no proprietary hardware on MultiControl 4 or ITS Control Systems.
  • Independent setting for Weight (based on pre-compression) and Hardness Control (based on upper and lower punch position at final compression).
  • The stiffness-independence of the "displacement" control system makes production exchange between displacement-controlled presses much easier, allows for more straightforward product scale-up, more flexible production, easier product transfer between different sites in case of a multinational pharmaceutical company.
  • Extended dwell time to improve de-aeration of the product and rearrangement of the product particles
  • When using compression force for tablet weight control, a tabletting speed change has often a huge impact on tablet hardness and hence on the compression force needed. A compression force adjustment is required to bring the hardness back into range. A new average compression force calls for a new set-up of the tablet reject forces by the operator. Often the SOP is not set-up to deal with compression force changes so the speed cannot vary. Displacement weight control is not affected by speed and the hardness can be adjusted by the position of the compression rollers without effect on the weight control system. This allows for maximum product output.
  • Displacement measurement is temperature independent so there is no temperature compensation (as with a load cell).
  • Displacement is measured by a change of a magnetic field without friction to avoid aging of the measurement equipment. On a load cell, the full force is applied with each tablet causing deformation and defective readouts of the load cell.
