Fluidized Bed Precision Granulation™ with Real Time Process Determination™ (Download PDF)

Introduction

Precision Granulation (PG) is a modified bottom spray fluidized bed granulation method which is carried out in the Precision Granulator™ [1-2]. The schematics of the granulator and the Precision Granulation process are given in Figure 1. As opposed to the counter-current flow in conventional top spray fluidized bed granulation, the granulating liquid in Precision Granulation is delivered in an upward direction co-current to the flow of material through the spray zone and column. Real Time Process Determination™(RTPD) is a software program that can be integrated with the granulator controls system for enhancing process monitoring and control.

Objective

To investigate Fluidized Bed Granulation in a Precision Granulator™ and to evaluate Real Time Process Determination™ for process monitoring and control.
