Niro fluid bed processors are the systems of choice when processing particulate product such as dry or damp powders, filter cakes, or centrifuge cakes. Any particulate matter between 20 and 5,000 microns with a limited particle size range is a good candidate for fluid bed processing.

Fluid bed processing involves drying, cooling, agglomeration, granulation, and coating of particulate materials. It is ideal for a wide range of both heat sensitive and non-heat sensitive products. Uniform processing conditions are achieved by passing a gas (usually air) through a product layer under controlled velocity conditions to create a fluidized state.

In fluid bed drying, heat is supplied by the fluidization gas, but the gas flow need not be the only source. Agglomeration and granulation may be performed in a number of ways depending upon the feed to be processed and the product properties to be achieved. Fluid bed coating of powders, granules, or tablets involves the spraying of a liquid on the fluidized powder under strictly controlled conditions.

Aeromatic-Fielder MP-1/2/3 Multi-Processor

Aeromatic-Fielder MP-1/2/3 Multi-Processor at The Niro Pharmaceutical Test Station

A bottom spray apparatus capable of the controlled application of uniform layers of solids onto small to medium sized particles without agglomeration. High weight gain layering and low weight gain film forming for modified release processes can be performed.

Movement of both process gas and product is controlled be the apparatus to ensure that the thermal energy in the process is used for vaporization of the liquid and not undesirable heating of the product. The objects being processed are coated and dried in the coating column and return to the bed in a non-tacky condition.

The design features easily removed spray nozzle for rapid exchange in the event of a nozzle plugging without interruption of the process.
