GEA Pharma Systems forms liquid process engineering group for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cosmetic applications.

GEA Pharma Systems is pleased to announce the formation of GEA Liquid Processing, to operate from Niro's US headquarters in Columbia, Maryland.

GEA Liquid Processing originates from the former GEA Liquid Processing Division activities, notably Tuchenhagen North America, and will resume all process integration activities thereof. These activities typically start at the conceptual level with liquid process development, through detailed engineering, to manufacturing and delivery of modular liquid plants (i.e. valve matrices, solution make-up/delivery, proprietary drug manufacturing, purification / fermentation, CIP, etc.) and automation that can be integrated into a plant wide operation.

This re-organization is in keeping with GEA's global initiative, announced October 2002, to form the GEA Process Engineering Segment of the group companies with similar competencies and risk profiles, thus fostering positive growth through marketing, manufacturing, logistical synergy and acquisition.

With the GEA Liquid Processing formation and other related re-organizations, GEA Pharma Systems will be able to better serve their customers by providing completely integrated plants, from liquid make-up to final solid dosage form and will be better positioned to offer their customers full advantage of GEA liquid process technologies by combining the required knowledge based skill sets with Niro's centralized engineering in Columbia, Maryland. In addition, manufacturing capability and capacity will significantly increase by moving this activity to Niro's ASME workshop in Hudson, Wisconsin.
