Expansion of GEA Filtration in Europe |
Following the successful integration of the different GEA membrane filtration business units into one organization - GEA Filtration - we are proud to announce the next phase of our growth plan for cross-flow membrane filtration. The European structure of GEA Filtration will be substantially expanded to cover the following market segments - dairy, food & beverage, biotech & pharmaceutical and process wastewater. The local GEA sales network will be expanded with dedicated GEA Filtration personnel. Niels E. Olsen has been appointed Division Manager, responsible for the complete GEA Filtration organization in Europe. He comes with 11 years of experience within GEA and has successfully held various management positions in Southeast Asia, China, and the USA. The existing GEA Filtration division of GEA Liquid Processing Scandinavia A/S (Skanderborg, Denmark) will continue to handle the dairy, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Additional investments will be made to expand the existing pilot plant fleet in Skanderborg. Other resources are scheduled to further build on the success obtained in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Strong synergies will be realized with the system supplies from the existing GEA process engineering divisions.
GEA Wiegand GmbH (Ettlingen, Germany) has established a new GEA Filtration division to cover the food, industrial and wastewater segments. A substantial investment is being made to enlarge GEA Wiegand's existing test facility to include membrane filtration and new staff with specific membrane filtration experience has been hired. The adding of the GEA Filtration division will compliment the existing thermal evaporation technology division of GEA Wiegand. GEA has expertise in building systems for concentration, separation, and purification of process streams - these include: thermal evaporation; freeze concentration; and mechanical separation. The increased focus on membrane filtration reinforces GEA's technology leadership position in separation and concentration applications, and enhances the synergies obtained between the individual technologies and business units within GEA. GEA Filtration in Hudson, WI, USA, will remain the worldwide center of excellence for all cross-flow membrane filtration activities. GEA Filtration supplies Reverse Osmosis, Nanofiltration, Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration technology and systems to the worldwide market in the dairy, food, chemical, beverage, and pharmaceutical/biotech industries. The company has expertise in pilot trials and application development, systems scale-up, project engineering, process integration, fabrication, installation and start-up, service, and membrane replacement.
