The Modular System

The RAY™ freeze dryers are designed as modular systems. The cabinet, the heating plates and the vapor condenser are built as individual units.

The advantages of modular design include:

  • A shorter interval between order and commercial production due to quick installation.
  • Easy access for cleaning and maintenance.
  • The possibility of local subcontracting

A water flushing de-icing system is used for the small RAY™ cabinets.

At the end of the freeze-drying cycle, the condenser is flushed with pre-heated water. After approximately 10 minutes the ice is melted completely and the water is drained.

Water flushing is ideal for small systems.

The large RAY™ cabinets incorporate Atlas Denmark's patented Continuous De-Icing system (CDI). The CDI system is fully automatic. It ensures:

  • A maximum ice build-up of only 2-3 mm (1/10"), which results in low temperature drop over the ice and low energy consumption in the refrigeration plant.
  • Constant condenser capacity
  • High freeze-drying capacity per square metre of tray surface
